Hey all,
I’ve got photos coming. Haven’t been able to scrape together much time lately. I do have my three photos i owe you, but haven’t had chance to process them.
Today was scary because I almost lost Hiker! I looked away for a split second and he was swept away down a stream! It took me almost five minutes to find him. Luckily he was still clutching his stick too. After that, i called it a day. It didn’t help that it was pouring and i was wet too.
So, check back tomorrow!

DK Community /// Minifigure Madness Photo Contest
Hey everyone!
Ok, time for some cool news.
As you know, DK is the company behind the awesometastic LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary, which I had the privilege of checking out early and covering it’s launch party on 10/10/09. Not to mention a whole collection of LEGO Brickmaster books for making countless exclusive LEGO models from various themes from Star Wars to Pirates.
Now, DK is breaking into internet media, with DK Community (http://community.dk.com). It’s still new, so there isn’t a ton of content, but they have asked me to join up and doing some blogging, and would love for you all to sign up as well!
Why sign up, you say? Well, as part of the introduction of DK Community, the site is holding its first photo contest: Minifigure Madness!!
Want to take photos of your LEGO minifigs, like me? Now’s your chance to show your stuff!
Create an account, and head over to the Photos section of the Community, and click on Minifigure Madness. (Direct link:Â http://community.dk.com/_Minifigure-Madness/photo/11661388/165263.html)
Simply click “Add a photo,” to upload.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please tag your photos with “minifigure madness” so people can easily search them out. All photos uploaded must be your own. Plagiarism will not be tolerated and is against the law.
Once the photos start rolling in and the contest gets going, there will be weekly winners! So, take photos often, and submit them just as often. Got a friend who likes to take photos? Let them know! Get everyone with a camera and some LEGO involved. The more people, the better the contest.
And, um, also, let DK know where you heard the news, because whoever refers the most people to the contest gets a prize! Wouldn’t it be awesome if it was me! Yeah! Totally! We support you Dan! Wooo! 🙂
Stay tuned for more information on new books from DK, and cool stuff at DK Community.

New LEGO STAR WARS Brickmaster from DK
Joining the many already available Brickmaster collections is the new LEGO Star Wars Brickmaster book.
The 240+ pieces allows fans to build 8 new exclusive models from the Star Wars universe.

Overall, the set should keep Star Wars fans happy. I will say the inclusion of the droid was a little disappointing as they are easily the most worthless figures in the entire LEGO Star Wars minfig catalogue. I have plenty of Clone Troopers already, so having one more didn’t really matter to me. I would have enjoyed some more rare figures instead.
The available models are decent, but nothing special. Of the eight vehicles, I really only love two of them. I personally found all of the Separatist models to be uninteresting. However there were two Republic models, a speeder bike and a small AT walker that I really like. (I’ve always been a fan of speeder bikes!) The first set in the building instructions doesn’t use the minifigs at all.
I finally decided to make the set that had the Walker, as it would probably prove more useful in my 365 photo project (because I have a hard time levitating speeder bikes….) Here’s some snapshots of that particular set:

As usual, the directions are easy to follow, and the book itself contains a lot of trivial information spread throughout the pages of instructions about each of the models. I thought that was a nice touch.
Overall, I’d rate this a 3 out of 5 stars.
