  1. Yay. That’s my camera – I mean, the K100D. Before that, I had a Canon Powershot A540.

When my Dad bought camra shop he found a left over Lens and it was absolutly MASSIVE. He got it for free! But sadly their is a little tiny piece of plastic that rattles around inside the lens other than that its great!

  8. Hi I ‘ve discovered your blog and added my read list :)

I am using Pentax K10d. “Pentax FA 50mm F1.4 Lens” is a good choice. I am using old style lens for 50 mm on portrait.

You’re lucky. 50 mm SMC is good.

    good blogs, good shots

  11. I own the regular Pentax K100D. Basically I have my Pentax FA 50mm F1.4 Lens on most of the times. Sometimes I put on my older manual lenses though. Good use of your equipment!

  19. Man, that is a nice camera; I am saving up my money for a SLR, but it is going to be a long time before I get one…

    March 18, 2010 at 7:30 pm

  20. Keep saving! Might I suggest the Pentax K-x – it is a highly rated, and very good entry level camera at an incredibly reasonable price!

Hey mrphelps, do you happen to use strobist stuff in your photos? (: My friend sent me the link to your website and I ABSOLUTELY love your concept and legos! Keep it up dude!

  22. I don’t. Believe it or not I don’t own any lighting equipment aside from a Metz hot shoe flash. pretty much every photo i take is natural light, or with flashlights or regular indoor lights white balanced.

wish i could get a remote off camera flash, and some other lighting equipment, but i don’t have the $$! there’s 2 lenses i’d like to get first too.

  24. sweet set up! i use a pentax k10d for all of my shots and have the basic 18-55mm lens, and the quantaray 70-200. i would really like to get another lens for macro work and another one for better portraits. any suggestions?
i also upload a photo each day, but haven’t used any legos as subjects! keep it up!

    December 20, 2010 at 10:12 pm

    • the other 2 lenses I have, the Tamron and the 50mm are fantastic. The Tamron is on my camera pretty much 24/7. it’s very versatile and works not only for street, and landscapes, but portraits too. It has a very close focus point for close ups – but not macro. the 50mm is a great portrait lens as well. and its tack sharp.

i’m looking to invest in tamron’s 70-200 F/2.8 for a wicked portrait lens.
if you want a good macro, i suggest looking at the 85mm or 100mm Macros, or something similar to that from tamron, sigma, pentax, or tokina.

  25. Nice stuff. I have Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S3000 now. It’s not anything cool, specially compared to your cameras, but it’s much better than my previous one, made for TESCO stores, purchased for same price as accumulator for it. :-D

  26. My pentax is kinda old.

P.S. Why do you use two cameras?

    May 28, 2011 at 11:56 pm

  27. ben

i have the powershot, but it’s the A560.
    does that make a difference?
